Wish it was sunday..

Salam dearest Imaan,

So it's another manic monday.. quite an unfair thing for Mama to say judging from where I'm sitting now compared to Abah and most of my friends. Mama am still at home (with a lecture due to be given at twelve). Next week would be my last week at work (yesssss lah!). Mama can't wait to do all the things Mama am longing to do but couldn't find the time before. Like, revamp this whole blog, painting an artwork of you, doing paintings for our home, create your baby book.. and not forgetting your coffee table photo album ;) --Looks like Aunty Aini will have to wait too; Mama had to do a whole new one since the last one has gone bye-bye.

Speaking of artworks, Abah had bought a watercolour painting for our anniversary last May. It was one Yusof Gajah's Mother and Child series. Mama love it so! Coincidently, Pak Yusof Gajah's wife is Nenek's acquaintance-- she used to do reflexology before helping out at her husband's gallery full-time. She gave another print from the series for free with a little note from Pak Yusof to you. Mama am still looking for the right place (and time!) to hang them.

As for now, Mama am aiming for a work by Ilse Noor. Notice her name? Your name was actually inspired by hers -- Mama had first saw her intaglio work at the Petronas art gallery long time back. Her current series is of mythical and Malaysian folklore (which is another subject of my liking). Somehow for Mama, owning original paintings by individuals whom Mama admire gives a certain kind of satisfaction and happiness unlike any other. Though, Mama often do remind myself that it is an indulgence, not a neccessity. So, hopefully Mama will be able to get one of Ilse Noor's artwork at a reasonable price which fits the family's budget.

Wonder how you would grow up to be Imaan-- more of the bright engineer/doctor/scientist individual or would you take up to the right-brainer's line of work like Mama and Abah. Abah said "As long as beriman cukuplah," -- and Mama couldn't agree more.

Insya-Allah, ye sayang :)
LovEs,
Mama

interesting about the name (ilse) very unique.

we have done 3 photobooks for our family too. and given away 3 photobooks to our family members as gifts. sangat menarik kan?

sekarang ni tengah terhegeh2 belajar GIMP. tapi leceh sungguh! that's why, people hire professional like you to do it right? do you charge for this service?

Aini- kita start cuti 23rd ni so maybe have lots of free time utk buat coffee table photo album/book tu. However kan Aini, price yg kita jumpa utk print out tu not as cheap as the one offered on the website awak forward the other day. But I'll still update you (maybe kalau ada chance, show you the actual photobook bila dah siap).

Mama Sarah- did you do the photobooks in UK? How much did it cost you? (I'd really like to know to compare) best laa ek, overseas mmg byk offer coffee table album or those albumbooks.. but over here that sort of service masih belum banyak (very scarce actually--yg ada usually is offered by photographers, then again, you have to of course use their photography service and not your already existing digital photos). Dulu I ada tgk jessops offer that kind of service but I didn't have the chance to do one while I was studying there--masa student sengkek maa.. :)

Abang-baru ada mood nak update ^.^ tu laa kan, kesian imaan. nanti sambung edit2 gambar dia balik..

Mama Imaan,

So far I buat dengan mypixmania.com. Company from France. I selalu buat masa diaorang ada offer. starting price around £11. (tak termasuk p&p)

REcently I shop around, rasanya bonusprint pun boleh tahan juga. and lagi 'flexible', although start price dia £19.90. (tak termasuk p&p)

I tengah berangan nak order from bonusprint. tapi malas betul nak upload gambar and nak edit gambar.

you edit gambar guna photoshop ke?

coffee table photo album tuh camner?

kite pon berangan nak buat baby book aisya, since tgh sarat pregnant lagik.. tapi tak kesampaian.. huhu.. bilelaa nak dapat leave cam awak.. unless kite pon resign.. haha..

painting an artwork of you tu syok bunyinya tu...

mama sarah - thanks for the tips. tu la syoknye, the price over there's much more cheaper here.. I guess cuz there's demand. Will try to see if they're willing to post worldwide (and if that wouldn't hike up the price too much!).. but you're right about the editing--that's the time consuming part sebenarnya and yes, we do use photoshop.. sebab dah biasa although open source/freeware lain pun boleh tahan jugak hebatnya nowadays.

julie- coffeetable photobook tu sebenarnya album yg di print on paper and binded like a book (dia lagi tebal lagi lawa.. nipis sangat dia jadi macam magazine je).. so page dalam tu macam awak tgk kat books/magazine. Rasanya saiful nang pun dah offer sekali dalam package dia benda tu.. ramai photographer wedding dah buat pun. kita call coffeetable sebab kita refer to size.. coffee-table books kan a bit bigger than ordinary books sebab awak letak kat meja ruang tamu utk display/guests baca sambil borak2 or waiting. Kadang org jadikan 'perhiasan' sekali :)

izhal- haah. syok kan? excited nak start.. nanti next2 post maybe I'll story about that..u can expert digital photos je kan? haa.. sat nanti bleh blaja plak about process membuat artwork 'analog' lak bersama mama imaan :)

heheh, nice one... actually i specialize in the analog part of digital image acquisition... tapi nak mempainting hampeh le... true art i always leave to the true geniuses...
